Cape Town’s motorsport fans were treated to close racing and a great atmosphere at the first round of the Power Series at Killarney on 23rd February 2019.
The Burly Pro GTI Challenge and Mike’s Place Clubmans Saloons never fail to provide an intoxicating combination of wild overtaking manoeuvers and smooth, fast driving when the front-runners get a clear track.
The V8 Masters and Pirelli Sports & GT classes bring rock star cars to the grid, practically making the ground shake with the cacophony out the exhausts.
Add to this mix the likes of Formula Libre single seaters, Shatterfix Fine Cars (which are essentially road cars) and several motorbike classes and you have a recipe for success.
As usual, Carbs and Coffee took a walk through the pits to enjoy the behind-the-scenes sights and sounds of the sport we love.
Cape Town’s Jurie “Umpie” Swart will be competing in the Falken Polo Cup this year, arguably the premier class of South African tin-top racing despite not being officially classed as such. He will be joined by Dario Busi, both of whom will enjoy coverage on Carbs and Coffee as our hometown heroes.
The exceptionally rare Aston Martin Lagonda parked behind the new pits certainly deserves a mention too:
See you at round 2!
